This week, I met virtually with a learning partner and colleague to discuss trends in our respective fields and trends in education. Rachel teaches and works in the field of nursing.
When asked about trends in her field, electronic health records were top of mind, as well as agency nurses — nurses who travel to different regions of the country. Currently, the Victoria health region is transitioning to electronic health records after a ten year process. She also tells me that up to 1/3 of the nurses in her area are routinely hired from agencies.
So far as adult education is concerned, Rachel agrees that AI tends to be a dominant trend, but also notes that there is a growing need for flexible programs to accommodate students who have to be employed while working on their studies.
